For this project, I picked a UNESCO World Heritage Site, Nan Madol, and created an identity system for it, including a logo, colors, typography, ads, and more.
Nan Madol is an abandoned ancient city on the island of Pohnpei, Micronesia. The contruction of its massive stone walls is a testament to human ingenuity, and remains a mystery to this day.
The logo and colors draw inspiration from the wall structures and the surrounding environment. The logo mark resembles the maze-like enclosures and subtlely incorporates the letters “N A N”.
The web and booklet designs feature images and descriptions of Nan Madol’s rich history. The booklet (excerpt below) also includes the overall mission of the UNESCO World Heritage project, and uses a full page layout with interwoven smaller panels.
